So, today we hit our first big goal of bedrest. We made it to 28 weeks!!!
Why is that such a big deal, you ask?
If Miss Olivia Moonpie were to decide that she’s had enough and I went into labor, her chances of survival with no long term complications are roughly the same as if she were born full term. That doesn’t mean all would be hunky-dory. She’d still be looking at several weeks in the NICU, but it wouldn’t be quite as risky as it was for Lennox and Zoë. It does mean we can slowly let out the breath we’ve been holding since week 24 and relax a tiny bit. We’d still prefer it if she stays put for as much of the next 8 weeks as possible. Ideally, we really REALLY want to be able to do this delivery when I’m NOT in labor (cerclage, previous traditional c-section…) than when it’s a GOTTA-DO-IT-RIGHT-NOW-OMGWTFBBQ situation.
So, since I’m not allowed to, the rest of you have my permission to do a tiny combination happy dance/stay-put-OliviaMoonpie dance to celebrate today.
Um. Ok, I apparently had a brain fart. Y’see, I wrote this post a few days ago and set it to automatically post. Only, it was supposed to go up tomorrow. So, we’re celebrating a day early which I sincerely hope the universe will forgive me for and not punish me for having a bout of pregnancy brain. Nonetheless, Sunday June 6th is actually when I get to 28 weeks.
