So, thanks to another trip to L&D on Monday night (a different pain, and what was probably at least part of my mucus plug meant a little bit of monitoring) my doctor’s appointment got moved up to today. Don’t worry…it was another non-issue. Did you know that your mucus plug can regrow as long as the cervix is high and closed tight? I didn’t. I assumed that after dilating, it would be gone, so it was a bit of a shock to find myself losing it on Monday – Labor Day just for the humor – which turned me into that patient who called the answering service to have her doctor called twice in two hours. Better safe than sorry, though.
Olivia Moonpie has definitely decided she is most comfortable positioned as low in my uterus as she can get. That’s the cause of the daily pain. It’s just the constant pressure of her in one small area. For example, during the sonogram, she was standing on her head, right beside my cervix. Goofball. She has also learned really good aim and can place kicks/punches right on my cervix. She has plenty of fluid, my cervix is still closed, long and shows no signs of funneling. She was sleeping while we were looking at her, so no fun movement except for watching her rub her head and make sucking movements with her mouth, but we did get another good picture of her chubby cheeks which I’ll try to get posted later. Oh, and we’ve reached the point where I can now FEEL the hiccups. Those are fun (and don’t hurt). I do apparently have a minor infection, so I get to do 7 days of gunky cream. Bleh. We did a fetal fibronectin test today and will have those results tomorrow. As Dr. T put it the last time we saw him, you assume it will be positive and hope it will be negative. If it is positive, I have to get my steroid booster. If it’s negative, well, I don’t have to have another one for two weeks, which is good because things are getting a little sensitive in there and that swab HURT.
So, in short….still here, still pregnant, still bored. 🙂 Almost to the magical 28 weeks!!
And, as promised….
