These are the rules of life I’m learning:
1. If you report your debit card lost on a Thursday and have to go for four days with absolutely no way to get to your money (because it isn’t my checking account debit card), the new card will arrive on Tuesday and an hour later you will discover the old card in the passenger seat of your car. The same car that you tore apart on Thursday searching for said card only to be convinced it fell out of your pocket at the gas station.
2. You will spend $45 ordering a book for a class and pay for the express shipping, only to get to said class and have the instructor tell you that if you didn’t get the book, that’s ok because it’s really just intended to be a reference for you after the class is over.
3. After patting yourself on the back for finally getting caught up on the laundry and thinking, “Now I don’t have to worry about it for a few days” you will promptly spill something down the front of your white shirt and have to do a single-item load or risk having a permanent stain.
4. If you make a special trip to the pharmacy to pick up the prescription refill you placed online and received confirmation for, they won’t have a record of your request. Then, when you make a second special trip to pick up that prescription, they will tell you they already returned it to the shelf because you didn’t pick it up the day before WHEN THEY DIDN’T ACTUALLY HAVE IT READY.
No, not all of these have happened to me today. Only the first one. However, I’m anticipating the second one taking place when I get to class tonight (Edited to add: AND IT DID!!! ) The third one happens to me all the damn time and the fourth one has happened to me in the past and I was afraid would repeat itself yesterday. Fortunately, only half of it came true. I still had to make two trips over there which makes me cranky.
What life lessons have YOU learned lately?
