Hi, my name is Allison and I’m a craigslist addict.
Why haven’t I tried this before? All that stuff I packed up and carted over to the Salvation Army for a pittance of a tax credit, I could have listed it on craigslist and had people PAY ME FOR MY STUFF! And come to me to get it! All I have to do is deal with a few stupid questions through email and one or two people who claim they will buy something but not call me back. Hey, I’m home all the time anyway. Not like they’re keeping me from anything.
I listed a few pieces of furniture…a couple of computer desks (you know the kind you get in pieces and assemble out of particle board with lots of cussing?), a twin mattress that we used on a bunk bed for a couple of years that probably was only slept on 30 times, one of those cabinets you put in the bathroom that stands behind the toilet…and sold it all in about three days. I wasn’t asking much, but I made enough money to take us out for a REALLY nice sushi dinner for our tenth anniversary (of the day we first met) and still have some left over.
I can’t wait to clean the garage this weekend! There’s a dresser, a bed frame, an antique free-standing pantry, a rocking chair, a bike…. whoo hoo!
By the time we sell the house and are actually ready to move we should be down to just the things we really want to keep and, if not richer, at least we’ll be able to treat ourselves to a few nights out without feeling any financial guilt.
