Regardless of the temperature outside, spring is here. The trees all have that fuzzy green look. The redbuds are beginning to bud, the daffodils have all sprouted and started to bloom. I watched a small songbird build a nest this past weekend at the Japanese Gardens. Soon, we’ll have (I hope) a new family of backyard bunnies.
Spring is my favorite part of the year. I love the soft feel of the air and the gaudy colors of spring blooms. I like finding violets blooming in unexpected places, like one of the seams in the driveway. I prefer the bright yellowy-green spring foliage to the dark green of summer. After the dark, drab winter I need color and brightness. This spring, I need it more than ever. I need something to shine through the darkness. I need to sit in the sun and try to get warm again.
