It’s been awhile, so I thought I’d give a brief update because I know everyone is holding their breath, just waiting to know what’s going on with my girly bits.
Today is cd38 and my fifth day taking provera. Whee. Aren’t you excited? Two more days of that, then probably another four days and it will be cycle day 1. At that point, I’m going to start the birth control pills again either with the intention of doing our FET cycle in July or just to avoid any more 40+ day cycles. Haven’t completely decided yet.
That’s really all there is of that. Boring, boring, boring.
In other news, I got my nose pierced. Nostril, not septum. I’d been thinking about doing it for about a year now and actively researching it for about six months. Friday night, I decided to go for it. Now, I’ve had a lot of painful experiences in my life. I’ve had an injection of steroids directly into my elbow joint, in the space between the bones. I’ve also had an injection into the arch of my foot. Both of those left me in tears and gasping with pain. I’ve almost passed out from pain in the waiting room of the ER. None of those experiences come close to how it felt to have that piercing needle pushed through the cartilage of my nostril. S says I sat perfectly still and didn’t go all pale or anything. I have vague memories of the piercer and the girl he was training talking to me while it took place, but it was hard to hear them over the screaming inside my head. The only thing that kept me perfectly still was the knowledge that if I moved, I’d either really fuck things up or have to do it twice. Once that was over, it was fine, I was fine. It’s already starting to heal, it itches like mad now, but I like the way it looks.
The yard looks like a jungle again, thanks to the rain that’s returned to the area. The plants love it though. If we are ever able to cut the grass again so that you can SEE the plants, I’ll post more pics.
Well, the pizza delivery guy is at the door…hopefully I’ll have more exciting things to post tomorrow!
OH MY GOSH to the piercing and pain! Does it at least look nice? HA!
Actually, I think it looks great. I was afraid the healing stage would be unattractive, but the swelling was all on the inside and it never got red. All of the washing with antibacterial soap has left my skin a little dry and peeling, but that’s about it. The visible part of the screw is just a small stainless steel ball…not very shiny. The one person at work who noticed had been talking to me, face-to-face for almost ten minutes before she realized it was there, so it’s pretty subtle, which is what I’d hoped for. I wasn’t going for attention-getting type of piercing.
Yikes that sounds painful! So exciting that you will be starting again soon!
Hi! I just found you through the commentathon.
Wow, you are my hero… I had surgery on my nose once – the lidocane had not had time to work. So – OUCH! But man, I am so impressed that you took that kind of pain on intentionally and then handled it beautifully!
You go girl!!
Anything that hurts more than PIO shot I do not want to do to myself.
I actually remember how much it hurt to pierce my navel. Not fun.
HA! I’ve been thinking aobut peircing my nose for a long time now…I think you may have changed my mind!.
As for your cycle…Good luck!
Nah, don’t let that discourage you! Honestly, the pain was over in about 3 seconds. It SEEMED longer, but it wasn’t and it hasn’t hurt since (well, except for the other night when I rubbed it in my sleep). It really is one of those “the anticipation is worse” scenarios. I do love the way it looks and can’t wait to start picking out my new jewelry!
“I do love the way it looks and can’t wait to start picking out my new jewelry!”
Just don’t pick your nose. Sorry, I couldn’t resist.
