I know others out there have said it, but I wanted to add my voice to the crowd.
EMBRYOS ARE NOT IMPLANTED DURING AN IN VITRO FERTILIZATION CYCLE. THEY ARE TRANSFERRED!!!
If they could be implanted, it would be a whole lot easier.
Why can’t interviewers on major network news shows just check with an RE to see if their questions are valid/correct before actually interviewing someone about their fertility procedure?
Ok. That’s as close as I’m gonna get to talking about that woman and her IVF. I’m afraid if I start, I’ll never be able to stop. Suffice it to say that I’ve had a very visceral reaction to the whole situation.

Hear, hear!! : ) I’ve been grinding my teeth the last week or two on this point as well.
But did you read that article about the doctor trying his own method on her where he is guiding into the lining? Hmm let me find it…
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/6255420.html
RIDICULOUS right?
I have been trying so HARD not to even start about this on my blog because, like you said, once I start I am afraid I won’t stop.
So, my poor husband, friends and all real life acquaintances willing to put up with me are now subject to my unending rants. And they have been unending.
I try so hard to suspend judgment on anyone else seeking treatment for IF, but this, this is just crazy. And everything about the doctor is shocking. And makes me grateful for my own RE and clinic.
g – that article is jaw-dropping. I hadn;t heard about the doc’s “special methods” before. Oh dear….
Oh, I’m afraid to click through on that. It’s taken all of my self control not to throw the remote at the TV or rip magazines off of shelves. I’m not sure I could keep from throwing the monitor on the floor!
I just hope the state medical board brings him up on some sort of ethical violation. I realize there aren’t any laws on the books saying how many embryos can be transferred but, based on my experience, most clinics have accepted voluntary restrictions based on age that make perfect sense and serve to prevent high risk multiple pregnancies.
GAH! See, there I go.
It’s beyond irritating. Yeah, he’s got some BS method that no one else uses. It’s just crap.
I know, I HATE that. Doesn’t help that the quack doctor claims to have developed an awesome “implantation” procedure. Too bad his success rates are 2 live births out of 60+ procedures, I guess it didn’t work too well.
Brava to you for not getting into it. I vowed not to but couldn’t help myself.
I have had the biggest reaction to this story. Hubby and I can’t even watch when she’s on…I’m just staying quiet and not being bitter girl with dead babies.
Will. Not. Touch. This. Story.
ARRGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!
You know what killed me this morning is that on the Today show there was an RE who let Matt Lauer use “implanted” and didn’t correct him. I was SO hoping he would, but no. UGH.
I cringe when I hear them say that too!
Oh, don’t get me started. I’ve had a very visceral reaction as well, and my household knows not to even talk about her or things get ugly, not to mention the damage control I am doing at work with less informed people trying to make them understand that this is *not* typical for IVF. This woman has set the whole Assisted Reproduction public image back YEARS.
Ditto. So frustrating. I made the mistake of watching Oprah on Tuesday and then reading some of her viewers comments on her website. I really don’t understand how “journalists” in this situation are not checking the terminology they use for accuracy.
