For this week’s Show and Tell (and the first one I’ve participated in) I’d like to introduce the newest member of our family.
She doesn’t have a name yet…well, her foster family called her Nani, but since she still hasn’t figured out that that thing she keeps chasing is firmly attached to her own butt, we’re pretty sure she isn’t so used to being called Nani that we can’t change it. Not sure what it will be yet. I wanted to name her for the soot sprites in “Spirited Away,”
but Susuwatari might be a bit too big of a handle for her tininess.
She’s 12 weeks old. Widget isn’t sure about her yet. There’s been lots of growling and hissing as she stalks down the hall, past the bathroom where the little one is living. I think they will get along well though, once the newness has worn off. Very similar personalities.
Now, if we could just come up with a name.

Oh, she is too cute. Could you officially name her Susuwatari (although I have to admit ignorance as to the source) but call her “Su” or “Tari” or something for short?
She’s adorable!
awww - look at those big ears!!! She’s a cutie!! You could always call her Susu?
Wow she is sooo cute! I say name her Tari for short. She is so adorable.
Adorable! I love Susuwatari…couldn’t you just call her Susu for short?
She is very adorable and tiny! I like Susu too.
We could call her “Susu”. Susuwatari translates from Japanese as “travelling soot” so Susu means “soot.”
We’re thinking about it. It took us about a week to finally name Widget, so there’s no real rush. We’ll get to know her first.
She is too cute!
I vote for Susu! It seems fitting. She is adorable!
I like Susu! She’s adorable.
Oh she is so cute. I love kittens.
Oh, she is totally adorable.
Damn, I am jealous. No cats for us, ever– damned husband and his allergies. Snif.
Completely adorable.
ack! cute!!!!
She is so so cute. I want to read a book and cuddle with her.
Absolutely adorable kitty!!
I was thinking Susu or Zuzu as a shortened name, but see it’s been suggested, so I’ll vote for that! She is SO sweet. I’m sure she and Widget will be sleeping in a pile in no time.
Congrats and enjoy!
she looks totally adorable! enjoy some good kitty snuggles. the name will come. loved the movie, btw.
Congratulations on your new fur baby! She is adorable! I can’t wait to hear what you do end up naming her.
My cat’s name is Nani!! Nani means beautiful in Hawaiian, which is why we chose the name. Your cat is beautiful, too — keep the name!
She was actually named “Nani” after the Manchester United soccer player, Luís Carlos Almeida da Cunha (”Nani”). Her brother was named Ronaldo. I think one of the children in the family that fostered them was a big soccer fan. But after living with her for a week and trying out several names on her, Lucy turned out to be the perfect fit.
