One of my comforts these days is finding ways to make sure that Lennox and Zoë do some good in this world, even if they aren’t in it anymore. Setting up the memorial fund for them with Cook Children’s Hospital was extremely important to me and it is my hope that we can raise lots and lots of money for them for neonatal research.
If you would like to help me spread the word about their fund you can put the button from my sidebar on your blog. If you aren’t sure how to do that, here’s some general instructions.
1. Right click on this image and select “Save Image”.

This will let you save the image of the button to your computer. Now you will need to upload it to the online photo hosting site of your choice…I use both Picasa and Photobucket.com, but there are plenty to choose from. Then, you’ll need the url of the image. If your image host gives you options, you want the one that is just a direct link, not IMG code or html code. It should just start with http:// and end with .jpg with no brackets.
2. Go to your blog management page or whatever lets you edit your sidebar, footer, wherever you wish to place the button.
3. Copy and paste this code into your blog.
{a target=”_blank” href=”http://sweetzoe.bastetweb.com/2008/02/12/how-to-help/trackback/” mce_href=”http://sweetzoe.bastetweb.com/2008/02/12/how-to-help/trackback/” title=”Donate to the Zoë and Lennox Simpson Memorial Fund”}{img border=”0″ align=”top” width=”160″ src=”PUT YOUR IMAGE URL HERE” height=”138″}{/a}
4. Replace the 6 curly brackets {} with <>
5. Replace PUT YOUR IMAGE URL HERE with the url of your image from your photo host. Do NOT remove the quotation marks!
6. That should be it. Just save your changes to your blog. If this didn’t work, post a comment to this entry and I’ll do my best to help you out.
THANK YOU!!!

I keep trying to add this to my sidebar but can’t. Blogger keeps changing the code when I hit submit. . any ideas?
If you are trying to add it to your sidebar…
Go to the Layout tab and select Page Elements. Then, pick HTML/JavaScript. That will let you post the code I have above and make the appropriate changes. Remember, the {} must be changed to .
If you are just doing a regular post, make sure you are pasting into the “Edit HTML” tab, not the “Compose” tab.
I also noticed when I tested this in just a regular post on blogger that some extra “stuff” got added in. Check to make sure the code in your post matches what I have above. Mine had extra sets of quotation marks added and some of the urls had http://blogger.com added into them. If you have double sets of quotation marks, delete the ones that look like they are in italics. Sorry, I don’t know how to describe it better.
Let me know if this doesn’t help and I can email you with better tips.
I am glad to help you to spread the word
OK my dear – I have this at the very top of my sidebar as well as in a post. Many wild hugs to you.
Thank you for letting me know how to make other people aware of this. I have added you to my sidebar and hope there are at least a few that find the fund through it.
Okay, I figured it out and it’s on my sidebar, I had to change all the quotes from italic quotes to regular.
