When you have a raging sinus headache for which you can take nothing, you’ve been nauseous on and off all morning, and all you want to do is rush home at lunch and take a power nap on the sofa…
It sure is nice to have a tiny, fat, furry cat who wants nothing more than [...]

Thankfulness

So, I’m a little late. Almost a week late, to be exact. Sorry. Fortunately, feelings of thankfulness don’t stop just because the turkey dinner leftovers have all been eaten.
I’ve spent a great deal of time thinking about all the things I’m
thankful for lately. Given that I’ve started crying over how sweet the holiday jewelry commercials are, it’s been incredibly tough trying to focus on all of the [...]
Week 19

Not much to report from today’s visit with the OB. Both babies played nice and were picked up on the doppler, so no ultrasound, darn it. I guess I’ll just have to wait until next week. We chatted a bit about how much better I feel sans gallbladder, and whether or not the poking sensation I felt this morning around 3am was a baby. I [...]

Does anyone know how to keep these fucking maternity pants from falling down? Full panel, elastic waist, below the belly….all of them fall down. I can’t keep walking around the office yanking my britches up and the panties that are most comfortable right now are NOT ones I want my co-workers to get a glimpse [...]

A nice article on infertility bloggers featuring a few names you might recognize! It’s another step on the path to increasing awareness and correcting a lot of misconceptions.
One sentence in the article did catch my eye and I’m curious to know how others feel about it.
Tell-all blogs are safe places for the infertile to overcome the shame and isolation they may feel [...]

Oh yeah, the pregnancy. Sorry, I got a little sidetracked with the whole surgery thing. Been there, done that, got a wicked case of contact dermatitis and four new scars.
Now that I’ve had some time to compare and discover that all of that heartburn, nausea, lack of appetite, and general malaise was being caused by the gall stones and not an early twin pregnancy [...]
Notes from the other side

Surgery sucks, period. Surgery while pregnant is a whole ‘nother ballgame. You can’t tell if what you are feeling is surgery related or pregnancy related. And the less said about post-surgery pregnancy constipation, the better.
All in all, things went really well. Of course, I never want to go through anything like last Wednesday ever again. As is normal for surgery prep, I wasn’t [...]

Finally.
Hospitals are the worst place to be when you need nothing more than rest and peace and quiet.
I’ll post all the details later…the vicodin calls right now. But I wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts and well-wishes. It was a frightening situation to be in, I’m so relieved to be on this side of [...]
Guest post: surgery went well

This is the husband posting. The surgery went well. AMS came out of the surgery fine, and the babies are fine — and measuring as though they were 18 weeks instead of 17. The surgeon wanted to keep AMS overnght to monitor her oxygen level. AMS has a history of having difficulty getting full breaths when coming out of surgery. She should be coming home today.

So, I’m having a very hard time with the thought of going into surgery tomorrow. I’ve had surgery three times before (four if you count our IVF retrieval) and, for the most part, I think I handle it well. Obviously it makes me nervous, but I don’t remember being panicked, except for the emergency surgery [...]
