Whew. We’re finally, FINALLY, starting to see some improvement on the digestive front. This past weekend is the first time I’ve actually found myself feeling truly hungry AND looking forward to eating. Things have been a little more up and down the past three days, but I blame circumstances out of my control rather than pregnancy. I actually ate a salad today. A whole meal-sized salad…complete with a mix of lettuces, raw mushrooms, tomatoes, hard boiled eggs, olives…the works! I’ve really been craving veggies for a couple of weeks. I never go this long without eating salads or steamed vegetables normally, but everytime I’d get some on my plate I’d get all squicked out, either by the smell, or the texture, or just the thought of them. Sigh. So, I really hope this is a good sign and not just a one-off.
So, here’s what the internets have to say about Week 15 (I really wish someone would do one of these for multiple pregnancies.)
Week 15: Kick One, Curl Two…
Curious why your body is finally looking like it’s pregnant? That’s because your baby is growing bigger each week — he or she is as long as four and a half inches right now. Need a better visual (and a snack)? Hold a large navel orange in your hand — that’s how big your little darlin’ is. (Now that you’re done looking, peel that orange and eat it for a delicious two servings of vitamin C!).So what keeps your baby busy all day? Mostly, your fetus is in rehearsals — practice, practice, practicing, and getting ready for that big debut. Babies practice breathing, sucking, and swallowing so that when they leave your comfy womb and move into your comfy house, they’ll have the skills necessary to survive.
Body movements continue to get practice this week, too. But because your baby weighs so little (a bit over two ounces), you won’t feel the calisthenics going on inside your abdominal gym. But don’t let that fool you. Your fetus is holding daily aerobics classes — kicking, curling toes, and moving those little arms and legs.
And with each passing week, your fetus is looking more and more like the baby you’re picturing in your dreams. By now, the ears are positioned properly on the sides of the head (they used to be in the neck) and the eyes are moving from the side of the head to the front of the face — where they’ll soon meet your loving gaze.

Navel oranges, huh? Me, I look like a python that just swallowed a watermelon. In fact, that’s what S suggested my halloween costume should be. Just one week until my next sono with the perinatologist. Now, he told me last time that this one would be “to check the hearts.” But the OB said this would be the big anatomy scan. I’ll be 16 weeks…is that early for the anatomy scan? Are we going to be able to see the bits and pieces S and I are curious about?

Is this the, umm, “vigorous” peri?
I can’t believe it’s been 15 weeks already!
Yes, it is the vigorous peri. I’m really hoping I’ll get his partner this time, though. Plus, I’ve gotten the FIRST appointment of the day and I’ll be damned if I’m going to let them change it on me this time. Now, as long as Baby B will cooperate…
Apparently, such vigor isn’t unusual. I mentioned it to the OB along with the fact that I was actually bruised for about three days. She wasn’t surprised. If the babies won’t cooperate, they will make them. That part of the video of the sono makes me seasick!
In retrospect this makes me love my peri, who I only saw once for the level II scan (I was a boring pregnant person), in a way I never had before. He was great. Gentle, calm, thoughtful, reassuring. Want to move to CT and use him?
