So, I’m really starting to think the doctor was overly rough with me yesterday when he tried to use the transducer to bounce Baby B into a better position. The lower part of my entire abdomen feels like one big bruise. There’s no discoloration, but it’s sore to the touch and if I move too quickly it hurts like a sore muscle. He really used a lot of force when he plunged that thing up and down on my belly. My first through fourth impressions of the perinatal practice haven’t been good ones. Every time I call, I’m put on hold for more than 5 minutes…today, I was on hold for over 20. They changed my appointment time on me twice…never offered an explanation or even asked if that was convenient for me…just informed me that it would be at this new time, and, really, what am I going to do? Refuse to show up? Yeah, that’s not going to happen, but if they try it next time, I’m going to be much less accomodating. The last change was the day before the appointment and they moved me from 10:30 to 3:30…the last appointment of the day, which left me sitting in the waiting room for almost 90 minutes because, of course, they got behind. I didn’t pick this perinatologist, it’s just who my OB uses. I assume that’s because they work out of the hospital across the street from her office one day a week. I’m definitely going to let her know what my experience with them was like at my next appointment.
But I’m curious to know if anyone else had their belly used like a trampoline in an attempt to coax a reluctant baby into position and end up feeling like they were worked over with a baseball bat? I don’t really know how to describe what he did. The best I’ve come up with is to compare it to the movement and force you use to plunge a clogged drain, only with a hard plastic transducer. I WISH I were exaggerating, even a little.

Changing appointment times on you like that, not cool.
I can’t say I’ve been manhandled with a transducer so far. No advice from me, I’m afraid.
That does not seem normal to me – especially if it has left you in pain this much later! I’m not sure if you even have the option of switching, but I absolutely adore the peri that I’ve been seeing. His name is Dr. Mark Peters – North Texas Perinatal Associates. Here’s a link if you want to check him out. http://www.ntperi.com/pages/staff/mark_peters.htm
Glad the babies are well, though!
