This post is going to be a little different. I’m not actually going to publish it until after the beta, but I wanted to save this information. If I end up with a positive beta, then these could be early symptoms of pregnancy. If I end up not pregnant, well, then they’re the side effects of progesterone. Either way, I suppose they’ll help all of those people who find my blog by googling for “1dpiui symptoms” and “4dpo early pregnancy signs.” The things I do in the name of science.
Our retrieval was on Wed. April 4, 2007. All that day, I felt ok, but very crampy. I had to pee a lot, but I was also pushing gatorade and other fluids pretty hard. So very tired.
Thursday, still peeing, very constipated, starting to feel bloated. Sore, heavy, swollen boobs. Fell asleep at 9pm after spending most of the day on the couch.
Friday, very bloated, peeing, constipated. U/S showed some free fluid. Painful boobs. Just want to sleep.
Saturday, some shortness of breath. Hugely bloated, some pain peeing (like the muscles I had to use were sore). No more constipation. Very gassy. I never felt hungry, but if I had food I ate like it was going out of style. Can barely keep my eyes open at 9:30.
Sunday, no bloating, no pain peeing. I could actually go 90 minutes without going to the bathroom. Best I’d felt in weeks. Still packing away the food. So tired.
Monday, transfer day. See Sunday. Some cramping. Tired, but hey, I also took valium, so who knows.
Tuesday, still feeling good. Boobs still sore, but not swollen. Gassy. Hungry, hungry, hungry. crampy from time to time. Ready for bed at 9 (too bad I was in class at the time).
Wednesday, egg-white CM with a yellowish tinge. Sorry, but snot is the only way to describe it. Also, and again, I apologize…so very aroused. Just sitting at my desk, I got flushed and breathless and felt that tingly feeling in my naughty bits like I was seconds away from doing a “When Harry Met Sally” impersonation. Sore boobs, eating anything that sits still long enough. Feeling crampy and some odd, pulling twinges. Also feeling a bit of pain when I pee, like I felt on Saturday. Not bladder infection pee, just like the muscles are pulled or sore. Fell asleep waiting for the Daily Show to come on. Some lower back soreness.
Thursday – Will someone please feed me? Ready for a nap at 1pm. Bloated, kinda crampy, my boobs hurt, I’m peeing once an hour, and I’m hot. Oh, and I keep getting bouts of mild nausea. All that aside, I’d really really like to have sex, or sit on an off-balance washing machine for a few minutes. CM is plentiful and more on the slippery/sticky side, cervix is high and soft (I was just curious. I hadn’t checked in a long, long time.) Lower back still a little sore.
Friday – nauseous. Really nauseous. Nasty, metallic taste in my mouth. Can’t stand anything that smells, but hungry. Popcorn seems to fit the bill just fine. A bit of diarrhea. Boobs actually less sore than the past few days. Some crampiness. Cervix still really high and soft, like mushy soft. Watery/slightly sticky CM. Had some of that snot-like CM last night again. So tired I can barely think. Negative hpt this morning. Peeing often.
Saturday and Sunday- Saturday was fine. Tired, a little nauseous, gross metallic taste in my mouth on and off. Boobs aren’t sore anymore. Not peeing often, but we were at a festival and it was jungle-hot and humid, so I think I sweated everything out. Eating constantly. Sunday, not so good. Woke up to some rather excrutiating pain in the vicinity of my left ovary. Lying down hurt more than sitting or standing. Just laying my hand on my tummy made me cringe. Plenty of nausea, but that could have been from the pain. Very, very tired and very hungry.
Monday - two days until beta - still in a lot of pain and didn’t get much sleep last night, so I don’t know what symptoms are from which issue. Fortunately, sono’s are all clear.
Oh, yeah, I’ve had really dry, itchy skin for about four days now.
Tuesday – pain in my left ovary is finally gone for the most part. Mildly nauseous all day. Tired. Gassy. Headache and backache. Menstrual type cramps, sometimes bad. White, creamy CM. So hungry. To give an example, I eat a packet of instant oatmeal almost every morning for breakfast and it lasts me until lunch. This morning, I finished it and actually considered warming up the food I brought for lunch. Instead, I drank a big glass of water (which tastes funny to me these days) and waited not-very-patiently until 11:45. I gave in at that point and ate my chicken breast with tomatoes and green beans. Huge lunch for me. It’s now 1:45 and I’m starving again.
Edited 05/14/07 to add – obviously, for me, these were all side effects from the progesterone. Definitely goes to show that PIO has a much greater impact on me than the suppositories because even my stoic husband was willing to suggest that I just might be pregnant, and he is NEVER that optomistic.
