What a weekend.
By Friday afternoon, I felt great. I’d slept off the codeine, the pain was almost entirely gone. I got up, cleaned the bedroom, and had a fairly pleasant evening.
Saturday morning, I still felt fine. Who knows…it was apparently just some fluke of nature that had passed. Until we went to the gym. I planned to just ride the bike while S worked out. A nice, slow, easy ride shouldn’t be a problem if the massive bedroom and closet clean I’d done the night before didn’t cause pain, right?
Wrong. The pain came back, slowly at first, but noticeably there. And got worse and worse. By the time I’d showered and dressed, I was as bad off as I’d been Thursday afternoon. I decided to go to the emergency room. If there was something wrong, I wanted to be in a place that had all the available testing equipment, even if it meant waiting six hours. What I was not looking forward to was going by myself. It was a step-son weekend and I was miserable enough without having to deal with a husband who HATES ER’s and a bored 12 year old.
Now, I’m no ER novice. I had the luxury of being able to prepare some. I got a good book, a pair of warm socks, a bottle of water and a ziploc of crackers. I had the ipod, too. Note to self…next time change into long pants and bring a jacket…even when it is 100 degrees outside, it’s still 65 inside the hospital.
Did you know hospitals have valet parking now? That was helpful. Another helpful thing…when you have actually felt a 10 on a 1-10 pain scale, you can say with a fair degree of certainty that the pain you are currently experiencing is a 7 and they bump you up the triage list a bit. And I got a wheelchair. Then, they drew blood. And more blood. And more blood. And I got the little cup to pee in…sooo not designed for women to use. And I got an ultrasound, both external and internal. Then I waited. and waited. I got my vitals checked. No fever, blood pressure and pulse a little elevated, but not too much. After about two hours, the doctor came to see me with my test results. White blood cell count – normal. Electrolytes – normal. Not dehydrated. No infection. No blood, protein, or anything else unusual in the urine. Not pregnant. No cysts. Perfectly healthy, except for the pain. Diagnosis? Unexplained pelvic pain, go home and come back if it gets worse or anything changes. Lovely. He did prescribe breakfast in bed and all the tv I could stand to watch. So, I made my pain filled way outside to the valet stand, reclaimed my car, and drove back home. Two more tylenol 3 tablets, 12 more hours of sleep, I still have the pain in twinges, but nothing I can’t tolerate. They think it might just be something spasming. Me, I’m starting to think it’s related to the fact that on Sunday I found myself on cycle day 1 again. Who knows. I’ll definitely be paying attention over the next 28 days to see when it goes away and when it comes back.
And, yeah, we are doing this one more time. I just ordered the refills of all the injections. I’ve got my baseline ultrasound in the morning. Here we go again.

I hope you feel better soon.
Here we go again, indeed. Take care.
